About Me

My photo
Just an ordinary person trying to discern some meaning and purpose out of life like everyone else on this planet. Life is an adventure that must be lived to the fullest, never taken for granted and experienced with all ones senses.

Living in the Now

I'm finding that time moves much quicker than it used to -- or so it seems. When I was in elementary school the summers were endless, the wait for Christmas was forever, and Sunday worship hour took forever! Now summer seems to pass much too quickly. I barely have time to get the flowers planted till the frost claims their lives. Christmas -- it comes much too quickly and never last long enough. As for Sunday worship it too doesn't last long enough.

Time hasn't changed, so I guess I have to face reality that I have changed, my life has changed. I've intentionally been trying to take time to get away and once again reconnect with the wonder and mystery of life. To regain a sense of "childlike" wonder. The ability to lay on the fresh cut lawn, gazing up into the blue Iowa sky and watch the clouds -- wondering who else is also watching these same clouds and where? Feeling the breeze blow through my hair and trying to catch it with my hands only to discover it's allusive character.

When was the last time you allowed yourself to stop long enough to actually feel time pass again rather than feel you didn't have enough of it? I don't think we were created to pass through this life at break neck speed. I think life was meant to be savored, enjoyed and leave us feeling each day was well spent.

I'm looking forward to now, because that's what I have with no promise of tomorrow. Now is really good -- how's your now?
