The snow arrived a bit early this year, or at least it seems that way. Somehow I remember it was Thanksgiving last year before it made it's first appearance. Now, here we are on the cusp of Christmas Eve expecting ice and more snow. Okay, whoever out there wishing for a white Christmas -- enough already! Be more specific -- give your geographical location.
However in just a few short weeks things will change for all of us. The weather will change, but also the year. 2010 is fast approaching and soon we will all be making our famous resolutions that we never remember more than a few weeks into the year. Time magazine will begin to seek it's person of the year, the stock market will re-set, the fashions will suddenly change and your pink scarf you just got for Christmas will no longer be in fashion.
But today here we are, in the pre-Christmas rush -- waiting. Waiting for Christmas Eve to arrive. What are you waiting for this year? A particular gift? Someone to return home for the holidays? What is it that you are wanting and waiting for so eagerly?
As for me I'm just wanting, needing a "Silent Night" like the lyrics of Amy Grants song. I need a silent night, a holy night. To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise. I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here. To end this crazy day with a silent night.
My prayer for you and for myself is that we all have a Holy Night tonight. Shalom.
