Summer Evening

I love sitting outside on the porch in the summer, especially in late evening. The birds are usually very vocal during those times. It's like eavesdropping on private conversations to listen to them chat back and forth. I imagine they are sharing the days events with one another. The crickets are just beginning to stir and the locust choir hasn't gotten into good voice yet. The light has a special quality at this time of day, casting shadows that make the landscape appear to be on stage. I listen, waiting to hear this evenings performance of natures players. Each evening different from the last. It's one of the great joys of life. Try it sometime!
