The sound was intense, the cats were poised at the kitchen windows with tails twitching. The ground outside was a frenetic carpet of Robins! All black and orange with puffed up feathers balancing on spindly little legs. Heads bobbing up and down eating the first signs of life emerging from the newly thawed soil. What a rare and wonderful site to behold on a frosty morning in March. The picture is of a Robin in New Zealand, they are shades of grey rather than orange and black.
