I love going outside right after it rains - the smell of damp earth and ozone. I'm given the invitation to partake in a wonderful banquet that only happens after a summer rain. Tree bark becomes darker which allows my eyes to feast on the various shades of green that only appear once a year when the leaves begin to present themselves. The ground is spongy underfoot making even the most expensive carpet pale in comparison. The bright colors of new life as the hosta begin to break through the now soft ground in search of sunlight.

Then of course there are the ever present bunnies! This year we have had the pleasure of welcoming a family to our backyard banquet. Mother and offspring share the bounty of hosta, blackeyed susan, clover and those tasty buds on the tulips! Let's not forget all the nests high on the gables of the house filled with baby birds. Their empty tummies give them voices that make the perfect alarm clock each morning. Much better than any chime or bell!
